If you are looking for other value/fundamental investors in the Austin area, you have probably noticed there's not much of a community readily available. After looking for a hub/group myself for the last few years. I've come up to take some action and try and put a small community together.
One where we can get together and talk about investment ideas, opinions and generally just have friendly discussions about our opinions; learn through sharing what each of us has learned throughout the years. My purpose is to create a group where we can meet like-minded people so we can talk to about our investment passion.
I've noticed that when your friends or colleagues are not that much into investing - especially value investing - you talking about it, comes with no fruit to bear and sometimes makes you look out of step.
Our nature of being Value Investors, makes us a bit more introverted and not so outspoken as other people/professions out there. Since it's our natural state to disagree with the popular opinion and have our strong deep convictions of what we believe in, people like us can't be located randomly on the street or by overhearing a casual conversation at a public place. So how can we meet?
Sure there's a few investors that have large known partnerships or funds that we can reach out to, but most the time - and being completely honest - they're not always available to get together with hobbyists or smaller players that don't carry a certain level of recognition. And it's fair to say, most of us would do something pretty similar if our roles were reversed.
I'm following up this website with a MeetUp.com group, where we can start building a community and hopefully gather more than a couple people so we can organize meetings, go grab a coffee and talk about value investing and see where all this goes.
Please reach out to me if you'd be interested to talk about our mutual passion:

I've been managing a private partnership by means of long term holding periods, based on the ideas of the great value investors like: Ben Graham, Warren Buffett, Phillip Fisher, David Dodd, Howard Marks, Pat Dorsey and the like.
I'm a self-taught value investor, and by self taught I mean reading everything investing related I can get my hands into; and the most important part.... by having failed at multiple initial shots at trading, technical analysis, algorithm creation to detect inneficiencies on the market and the sort. All this failures lead me to realize what I had been missing from the start - value investing seems so simple that most people - like me - being in this highly technological and technical world, think something so simple and fundamental is doomed to be obsolete and not to work.
If you have also realized this by trying your hand at different investing disciplines, welcome to the group! If not, you're probably a very smart fellow and I'd for one love to meet with you and have a interesting conversation.

If you're interested in joining our group, trying it - or just talk about value investing... Please reach out to us, there's not much people like us in ATX.
